In early May, Multi Image Productions headed to the Hard Rock Hotel in Punta Cana, the Dominican Republic to help stage Pitney Bowes’ annual PB1 Conference.
Working in the Dominican Republic certainly provides its share of challenges, but undeterred MIP helped Pitney Bowes celebrate the success of their top performers under the theme of “Rock the Republic, Roll to Win!” The three-day event featured a custom video about the history of rock and roll, on-site interviews from the attendees, live musical acts throughout and a final night’s performance by Foreigner.
Lighters-in-the-air for the MIP team of Paul Kelley, Michael Rodgers and Tim Flora, whose working harmonies once again drove this event to the top of the charts!

March 3 – 5 was the 26th annual American Airlines Celebrity Ski event benefiting Cystic Fibrosis. And once again, Multi Image Productions was there to support the cause.
Held in Vail, Colorado, this yearly event has raised over $30 million towards a cure for CF. This year we helped to raise $1 million more – a fantastic success by any measure.
MIP once again produced a video that looked at the past year through the eyes of the three woman who have become the face of the event. We also turned the Rocky Mountain ballroom into an intimate theatre for the the Friday night performance of “Human Nature” – an Australian vocal group that sings Motown. It was a terrific performance that ranks as one of the best all time at the event.

Multi Image is proud to continue our relationship with American Airlines and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and we look forward to raising another million dollars next year.

In mid-February, the MIP team traveled to the Big Island of Hawaii and the Hilton Waikoloa to work with Teradata Corporation and their Winners Circle awards conference.
Working from the theme “Hui Wa’a – Pulling Together”, MIP crafted a subtle yet extremely impactful set. Flanking each of two screens were a pair of outrigger canoes, complete with cut-outs of rowers. On the stage were 10 “Kahilis” – a feathered Hawaiian standard used for important gatherings. Each kahili represented one member of the Executive Team. Across the top sofit permanently built over the stage, MIP projected images of Hawaii using a DL2 projector. The set turned out so well that the hotel – one of the finest in Hawaii – took pictures of the set to use for marketing their meetings.
On the video side, MIP pre-produced an opening video that tied in the history of Hawaii with the importance of the outrigger canoe. MIP also produced 13 on-site videos in 72 hours. These videos included six members of the Executive Team, five interviews culled down to three Customer Win videos, two “congratulation” roll-ins featuring several attendees, a vanity video and a funny “How do you say humuhumunukunukuapua’a?” video.

For entertainment, MIP enlisted the talents of a Hawaiian storyteller and dancer, and a terrific singing group called “the Water Coolers”. This group put business specific lyrics to popular songs for several performances that the crowd really loved. Couple that with the bands One Republic and Daughtry and you ended up with one of the best Winners Circle events ever.
MIP thanks Bar Swinger, Elizabeth Corley and the entire Teradata team for allowing us to once again “pull together” to put on another great event.

In February, Multi Image Productions helped two divisions of Pitney Bowes deliver their own message for their kick-off meetings…at the same place…at the same time.
Held at the the Hyatt Regency DFW in Dallas, Texas, Pitney Bowes Management Services and Pitney Bowes North America looked to save time and money by leveraging the economies of scale that two events at one hotel can provide. This also allowed the Executive Team for Pitney Bowes to limit their travel while maximizing their time at each meeting.
For MIPs part, careful coordination was needed to ensure that the meeting flow across multiple days was as smooth as possible.
Judging by the smiles at the end of the event, we think we did a pretty good job.

Multi Image Productions lent its staging expertise to help present a Holiday Bowl party for title sponsor Bridgepoint Education.
Working through Elise Rollinson and Summit Performance Group, MIP designed and installed the staging, lighting and sound for the main corporate tent. But the highlight was the design and construction of an 18’ x 20’ arched entrance and exit, complete with title sponsor and team logos all around. It immediately became the focal point of the entire party complex and put smiles on the client from ear to ear.
Shout-outs go to technical director Michael Rodgers and producer Shannon DiVerde, as well as to Dan Reber, Tommy Castillo, Paul Kelley and the rest of the set-up crew who braved constant downpours to bring this Holiday Bowl Party to life.

As the world’s leading manufacturer of high-end precision gaming products and peripherals, Razer is always a magnet at CES – the Consumer Electronics Show. Their award-winning lineup of products such as desktop speakers, headsets, keyboards, mice, software, and gaming surfaces are a marvel of imagination and performance, and gamers everywhere beat a path to their booth wherever they are. But this year, Razer introduced a product concept that had jaws dropping and minds blowing; and Multi Image was there to help.
Razer enlisted MIP to help them create an introductory video for a new product called Razer Switchblade. This portable yet powerful gaming device features a keyboard that is unlike anything you’ve ever seen. To introduce this device, MIP mixed interviews with cofounder and President Robert Krakoff and CEO Min Liang-Tan, with full 3D animations of the Switchblade – courtesy of Adam Baral Design. The result was a 3-minute HD video that had the attendees at CES drooling at the possibilities. In fact, the Razer Switchblade was voted the 2011 CES “People’s Voice Award” as Best in Show. But our help didn’t stop there.
To display this video – and others Razer wished to showcase – MIP installed a 20K Barco Projector, a PlaybackPro Plus video player and a full sound system to deliver a sensory experience to all those in the booth.
MIP congratulates Razer – and our client Heathcliff Hatcher – for blurring the lines for what is possible in gaming, while sharpening the point that Razer is THE company to beat when it comes to gaming products.

American Airlines has historically been a huge supporter of the military, but they wanted to do more. So recently they had commissioned a number of giant “yellow ribbons” – symbolic of military support – to be interwoven with the AA logo on the tails of several of their airliners.
The plan was to film one of these planes in flight and on the ground in support of American Airlines’ service to the military. It took some time, but one of the American Airlines 767 yellow ribbon planes finally arrived for aerial and ground photography, and Multi Image was there to take her picture.
Starting in LA, the 767 met up with a Learjet 25 from WolfeAir for a quick morning session of aerial shots over the Tehachipi Mountains. Beautiful clouds and clean air from a series of evening showers made for some spectacular backdrops. From there the Lear and the 767 landed in Mojave, CA., for a short series of ground shots. Two ground crews braved an extremely windy and very cool afternoon to capture several ground taxi passes of the 767.

After that, the Lear and the 767 took off again for an afternoon round of aerial photography. Among those shots were a dual landing pass in Fresno, CA, a water shot over Morro Bay, CA and a another dual landing pass at LAX.
The shoot wrapped up Tuesday with some additional aerials and ground shots, as well as some still photography.
A beautiful plane coupled with a beautiful day made for a wonderful experience for Multi Image Productions and the crew.

On October 25th, the Partners Yacht “CA 2010 SD” docked in Hall A of the San Diego Convention Center to kick-off the Partners Teradata User Group Conference.
In front of nearly 3000 people, Partners Steering Committee President Matthew Boos arrived at the “Partners Yacht Club” aboard a 40′ “yacht”, complete with a 22′ x 40′ rear-projected marina and a custom-made dock and ramp. The entrance marked the first time in the Convention Center’s history that a speaker ever arrived to the conference floor by boat.
This was but one of the many effects Multi Image created for this 25th annual event. Other bits of fun included Joe Castillo, the original sand painter, who mesmerized the audience with his ever-shifting images of people, places and things all done with sand and light. For the Wednesday closing session, MIP created a dive-themed opening video. The video served as a back-story to bring Matthew Boos to stage as a deep diver. Matthew was lowered in from 20 feet high as he “swam” across the stage wearing a diver’s outfit, complete with mask, fins, regulator and a scuba tank. In the background was a projected underwater scene that was taped in HD at the Stephen Birch Aquarium.

But as much fun as the opening and closing sessions were, the real work was found in supporting the AV needs of more than 250 breakout meetings, media briefings, executive forums and manager’s meetings that are the crux of the conference. Once again, MIP provided this vital service that this year was spread across three separate venues.

Multi Image is proud of our partnership with Teradata and the Partners team and we look forward to creating another exciting event when the Partners conference returns to San Diego next year.

For 16 straight years, Multi Image has been proud to partner with American Airlines to put on the American Airlines Celebrity Golf and Tennis Event benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Our role as show experts has led us to work some of the greatest past and present acts in the business. Burt Bacharach, Kenny G, Clint Black, Hootie and Blowfish, Sara Bareilles and this year’s America Idol winner Lee Dewyze are but a few of the wonderful acts that have graced the Event’s stage. In addition, our talented production team has produced 10 outstanding breast cancer documentaries that have inspired the attendees to give what they can at the evening live auction. In fact, in 16 years we have helped to raise over $8 million dollars that went directly to breast cancer research.
Needless to say, MIP has been tickled pink to be part of this event and we look forward to the day when breast cancer is a thing of the past.
